Took it home, disassembled, cleaned, and lubed it. Took it to my range and put 36 rounds of FMJ through the two mags that came with it. The first two were classic stovepipes and easily cleared. The last two were very odd in that the spent casing stayed in the barrel’s chamber requiring me to use a small wooden dowel to pry the casing out; not good for a home defense/carry gun! Good reviews and good heritage (I own several Ruger pistols). I got 3 FTE's in the first 200 rounds and chalked it up to break-in. It us my EDC, and I carry every day year round. It is an economy gun. To keep it economical some coatings are not as durable as those if more expensive guns. I had a Walther PPS M2 with a Tenerite coating. It seemed indestructible.It’s only 6 inches long and 4.5 inches tall, with a barrel length of 3.12 inches. Called Ruger and they claimed not a known problem. Took the bolt out of the receiver and polished all surfaces on it that touch any other metal during cycling. Second range trip was better but stove pipes still happened.The problems related to the Ruger Security 9 pistol are very commonly seen on many other guns and some of them can be easily fixed.
