2024 John deere gator clutch problems

On a 1996 JD Gator 4X2, serial #W004X2X020589, the gears grind when shifting from neutral to forward or reverse. The basic problem is the belt is moving at idle speed which is turning the secondary clutch. I have tried the following things to diagnose and repair without success. Slowed down idle speed to point of engine stalling.. Tenicore

Well today I dug a little dipper and found the clutch is not the problem. The throttle response is my problem. The cover and tube comes off fairly easy. The clutch housing air exit is underneath the back of the box on the drivers side, you can take a flash light and look down and see the belt. How many miles do you have on the gator? John deere recommends changing the drive belt at 800-1000 miles.. Young dolph funeral

It was originally converted to run on LP, but seeing as someone ripped out half the system, I sourced a used carb off ebay to try and see if it'd run.The XUV 835R comes with bodywork designed for abuse.
