Smoke means your either getting to much fuel or not enough air. So with that being said I would start easy and see if you have a boost leak. Be sure you hot a clean air filter, and fuel filter. After that if you don't find anything I would move to the injection area. Maybe have you injectors checked.It takes the Duramax a whole 7.0 seconds to complete the run. With that said, however, the Duramax diesel’s torque rating stands at a whopping 460 lb-ft, nearly 100 more than the EcoTec3’s 383 lb-ft. Cold air will sound different going through the turbo until piping, intercooler warmed up. Also when cold it keeps the vanes more closed in an effort to warm up the engine by making it work harder. Also the air around the engine transmits sound better when cold. 2020 GMC 2500 CCLB work truck …If the truck can do 20 mpg empty, it burns 1.5 gal just covering the 30 miles, plus the extra 1 gallon going to the 9th injector. You end up using 2.5 gal /30 miles or about 12 mpg.
